National College of Education on Technology – Kuliyapitiya 2026
Applications Open for Bachelor of Education Degree (English Medium)
The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has invited applications for admission of 210 student teachers to the National College of Education on Technology based on 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level results.
This four-year pre-service Bachelor of Education Degree programme will be conducted in the English medium and is designed to prepare qualified student teachers in Technology and Information Technology fields.

General Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should:
- Be citizens of Sri Lanka
- Possess good character and satisfactory physical and mental health
- Be below 25 years of age as at 01.01.2026
- Be unmarried
Educational Qualifications
Applicants must have:
G.C.E. Advanced Level (2024)
- Passed 3 main subjects in one sitting
G.C.E. Ordinary Level

Passed 6 subjects including:
- Sinhala or Tamil
- Mathematics
- Minimum 3 Credit passes
- A simple pass in English Language or English Literature is compulsory

1. Engineering Technology
Eligible Streams:
- Engineering Technology
- Science for Technology
- Approved Technology stream subjects

Physical Science stream:
- Combined Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry
OR
- Combined Mathematics / Advanced Mathematics with Physics
Selection Priority:
60% / 30% / 10% according to Gazette regulations.
2. Bio Systems Technology
Eligible Streams:
- Bio Systems Technology
- Science for Technology
- Approved Technology stream subjects
OR
- Biology, Physics/Agriculture and Chemistry
OR
-
Any two subjects from:
- Biology
- Physics
- Agriculture
- Chemistry
Selection Priority:
60% / 30% / 10% according to Gazette regulations.
3. Information Technology
Requirements:
- ICT as a main subject at 2024 G.C.E. A/L
- Any two other A/L subjects
Interview Priority:
Based on ICT grade and marks.
Priority order:
- A Grade
- B Grade
- C Grade
Selection Procedure
- 50% of vacancies will be filled on a national basis
- 50% will be filled on a district basis
- Selection will be according to Z-score and course eligibility
- Eligible candidates will be called for interviews
- Practical tests and physical/mental suitability assessments will be conducted
- Permanent residence verification will follow Gazette instructions
Training & Allowances
Residential Training
- 3 years institutional residential training
Internship
- 1 year internship attached to schools and technical institutions
Financial Benefits
- Meals and lodging facilities worth Rs. 10,500 per month during residential training
- Rs. 10,500 monthly allowance during internship year
Bond Requirement
- Bond and agreement value: Rs. 1,500,000
Applicants Who Are Not Eligible
The following applicants cannot apply:
- Already appointed or selected teachers
- Those who followed or deserted NCoE courses previously
- Internal students of State Universities or State University Institutes
- Students registered through the UGC online university admission system
- Married or divorced applicants
Important Instructions
- Applications must be submitted only through the online application system
- Applications sent by registered post will not be accepted
- Applicants should carefully read the Gazette notification before applying
- Incorrect, incomplete, or late applications will be rejected
- Requests for amendments after submission will not be considered
